Medicare Insurance

Original Medicare

Original Medicare is managed by the Federal Government and includes Part A and Part B. By itself, it is just a starting point for your healthcare.

Part A

Part A covers in-patient medical hospital care, nursing facilities, hospice, and some home health care.

Part B

Part B helps cover the cost of doctor’s visits, outpatient care, and some preventive services.

Medicare Advantage Plans

Medicare Advantage, or Part C plans, are offered by private insurers and combine the benefits of Parts A and B.

The fact that, unlike Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans have a maximum out-of-pocket limit per plan year is one of the major “advantages” of these plans. This means that your share of healthcare spending is capped under Advantage plans. Once you’ve reached your out-of-pocket limit through a combination of deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance, your Advantage plan will cover 100% of your permitted healthcare costs for the remainder of the plan year. This allows you to better manage and comprehend your financial risk.
